M.Sc., Microbiology

The study explores micro-organisms which can only be seen with a microscope. Their influence on this planet is almost impossible to overstate because half of the mass of all organisms on earth is microbes. In this degree course one can study how one can use microbes to advantage. Many commercially important foods such as cheese, bread, beer and wine are produced by microbes.

 

Almost all of biotechnology, including genetic engineering, relies at some stage on using microbes. The human genome project, for example, could not have been carried out without the use of bacteria. We now heavily use elements of biotechnology to study microbes in the environment.

To create young, smart and beneficial microbiologists, our laboratory is well equipped with modern equipments and techniques to meet the challenges of rapidly growing and competetive microbial world.

The opportunities:
As a Microbiologist in well established Pharma Industries,
Food Processing Units and Medical Diagnostic Laboratories.
To pursue research programme leading to Ph.D., post doctorate
fellowship and finally becoming a fullfledged scientist.

The Eligibility : A pass in any Science UG Degree
Duration : 2 years ( 4 semesters)
